We're not sure who conducted the attack or why, but we can rule out some theories of the method of delivery: #1. I think we can discount an autonomous vehicle. There are too many Russian naval patrols in the area. #2. I don't think it was a missile. The only missile that could penetrate that far into Crimea from Ukraine would be an MGM-140 ATACMS and there is no evidence that missile has been sold to Ukraine. And any missile trying to strike that deep into Crimea would encounter substantial surface-to-air missile fire. Also note that the railway is more important than the road. Any attack would have struck the railway before the road. #3. This leaves us with a truck-bomb or a vehicle delivered weapon. DO NOT PUT YOURSELF IN DANGER TO COLLECT INTELLIGENCE. Russian President Vladimir Putin has driven a Mercedes over the bridge that links Moscow-annexed Crimea to the Russian mainland weeks after the vital link was partially blown up. In what is the closest the 70-year-old leader has come to the frontline in Ukraine, Mr Putin drove across the Kerch bridge as Russia re-opened it to traffic following an October blast Moscow blamed on Ukraine. While driving, he discussed the repairs of the bridge with Marat Khusnulin, a deputy prime minister in charge of the project, in an exchange that was broadcast by Russian television. Light traffic has resumed on Russia's only bridge to Crimea, following a huge blast brought down sections of the roadway. The blast on Europe's longest bridge - a symbol of Russia's annexation of the peninsula from Ukraine in 2014 - killed three people, Russian investigators said. Russia's foreign ministry published a video on Saturday, seemingly showing cars using the bridge. Repairs to the bridge between the annexed Crimean peninsula and southern Russia, which was damaged in an explosion on October 8, were shown to be underway in footage released on Thursday (October 20) by Russia's RIA Novosti news agency. Cranes and construction work could be seen, as well as traffic freely flowing in both directions on an undamaged section of the bridge. The repair work is scheduled to be finished by July 2023, a document published on the Russian government's website said. Huge queues of cars lined up on Sunday (October 9) waiting to cross the damaged Crimea bridge as motorists tried to leave the annexed peninsula. A flagship project for Russian President Vladimir Putin, built at a reported cost of $3.6 billion, the bridge was damaged in a powerful blast on Saturday. The blast, which officials said killed three people, hit a crucial supply route for Russian forces in Ukraine. Thousands of motorists were stranded in the queues. "We got here at 11:10 in the morning and we'll have to stay here because we need to get back home. I think we will cross the bridge by midnight," one of the drivers, Artyom Babak, told Reuters/ Another motorists estimated the queue was about 15 kilometres (9.3 miles) long and would take up to 10 hours to pass. Russian President Vladimir Putin unveiled the bridge in 2018 after Moscow annexed Crimea from Ukraine in 2014. The bridge is crucial for the supply of fuel, food and other products to Crimea, where the port of Sevastopol is the historic home base of Russia's Black Sea Fleet. It also became a major supply route for Russian forces after Moscow sent troops into Ukraine on February 24, sending forces from Crimea to seize most of southern Ukraine's Kherson region and some of the adjoining Zaporizhzhia province. Several explosions rocked the Shevchenkivskyi district of the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv mayor said on Monday. Vitali Klitschko said on Telegram that multiple explosions were heard in the center of Kyiv today morning. The country's Ministry of Interior said at least 8 people were killed and 24 were injured in the bombardment in the Shevchenkivskyi district of the capital Kiev. CCTV camera shows how a bridge in the capital was also blown up. Several explosions were also reported in the Dnipro city, according to local media.
